AIM

        • Pre-Disaster situations

PRE-DISASTER SITUATIONS

        • Identify possible disaster areas/locations

         • Mapping possible disaster locations

         • Prepare contingency plan

         • Appoint committees 

        • Educate general public

        • List out relevant authorities/institutes and keep contacts

        • Identify projects that would help to minimize disasters

        • Coordinating of those projects

        • Coordination of government institutes and non-governmental organizations

DISASTER SITUATIONS

         • Take immediate actions 

         • Give warnings

         • Provide information to relevant authorities and coordination

         • Take actions to rescue public and their property from the disaster situation

        • Establish relief camps and conduct welfare services

POST- DISASTER SITUATIONS

        • Damage estimating and rehabilitation

        • Coordinate relevant authorities to rebuild the infrastructure in affected areas

        • Provide assistance and aids

        • Coordinate individuals and institutes that are willing to provide aids

        • Provide information and records to relevant institutes• Conduct counseling programmes when necessary 


DIVISIONAL DISASTER MANAGEMENT PLAN

        • Establish disaster management committees

        • Establish divisional disaster management committee chaired by the Divisional Secretary

        • Establish rural disaster management committees headed by Grama Niladari

ACTION PLAN

        • Meeting of the divisional disaster management committee once every 3 months

        • Meeting of the rural disaster management committee once every 2 months

MANAGEMENT ACTION PLAN

       • Mapping of danger zones/areas

       • Identify relief camp locations

       • Establish secured locations

       • Identify emergency alternative routes

      • Conduct lifesaving training programmes

      • Prepare a disaster managemtn instruction manual

      • Update relevant service providers/authorities
